Accompanying this series is the New Web Glossary. Together with each article, all mentioned keywords will get a short explanation in the glossary.
These are roughly the working titles of the various articles, so you get an idea of the scope of what I have in mind. As the series progresses some articles might be split or merged as I see fit, and this list will be updated. As articles are published I will link them from here, so you might want to keep this post bookmarked.
- How we got the Internet
- The rise of the World Wide Web
- The web grows up
- The real-time web
- The browser platform
- Higher order emerges
- The Emerging web, shaping the future
I need your help!
I don’t claim to have supreme knowledge. Several of these articles will require some research on my behalf. You are highly encouraged to report any errors you may find. Furthermore I might oversee important keywords, because they have become so obvious for me, or because I simply haven’t thought about them. If you feel some keyword urgently deserves an entry in the glossary, you are again most welcome to let me know. I will closely monitor all comments and address them all.
Finally, in the latter articles some exciting new and future developments are discussed. I want to know what you think about them. How would you like the web to be in two years? How about five years? We’ll have a lot of ground covered by the time we get there. Since all readers should have a minimum understanding of the subject by then, let’s use our wildest imagination and together find out what these new technologies could mean for us. I’ll leave it to that, enjoy your reading!
